A machine tool that combines gun drills and BTA drills
There are two processing methods for deep hole machining based on different metal chip removal methods. One method is external chip removal, also known as gun drilling, which is suitable for drilling holes with a diameter of 40mm or smaller. Another method is internal chip removal, which is a BTA machining method suitable for holes with a diameter greater than 40mm.
Due to the different tools and feed systems used, the two deep hole machining methods mentioned above are usually implemented on two different machine tools, namely gun drills and deep hole boring machines. However, if the user requests to machine holes on the same workpiece, with holes smaller than 40mm and holes larger than 40mm, can it be achieved on one machine tool? The answer is affirmative.
Currently, we have encountered an Indian client who requested to drill 20mm and 13.8mm holes, as well as 102mm holes, on the workpiece. Therefore, we have specifically designed a machine tool that combines gun drills and BTA drills, which not only improves work efficiency but also greatly saves customers' budgets.
The machine tool is controlled by a numerical control system and can simultaneously control six servo coordinate axes. It can be drilled into row holes and coordinate holes. It can drill in one go or rotate 180 degrees to drill. It has single action performance and automatic cycling performance. Therefore, it can meet both the needs of small-scale production and the requirements of large-scale production.
The machine consists of a body, T-slot table, CNC turntable, W-axis servo feed system, column, stroke head with gun drill and BTA drill, slide table, gun drill feeding system and BTA feed system, gun drill guide bracket and BTA hydraulic head, gun drill and BTA shock absorber stabilization, cooling system, hydraulic system, electrical control system, automatic chip removal device and overall protection.
